Behind the Swedish Golf Museum is a foundation with representatives from The Swedish Golf Association ,
The Swedish Association for the History of Golf and Landskrona Golfclub.

Golf is normally considered to be a Scottish invention, since the game is mentioned in two Scottish laws from the fifteenth century which prohibit the playing of the game of "gowf". There is evidence that a game that involves hitting small balls into holes with the aid of golf clubs was played in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century. The term golf is believed to come from a Germanic word for "club" - Dutch kolven.
